Is the Organic Industry Affected by the Credit Crunch?
The credit crunch is affecting many industries no matter what continent you live on. Some industries are being hit harder than others, and consumers may not be aware of it. The organic food industry is suffering for several reasons. As a consumer you want to be aware that the high prices you are paying may not be offering you the best foods right now. For organic food markets the cost of produce, meat, and other foods is higher than your usual grocery market. The high prices and therefore organic food is not selling as quickly as it used to. Instead of finding fresh fruit or fresh meats you could find something old making the other local markets more affordable and the food more edible.
